The Shaken Cradle is a Psychological Thriller and is adult fiction.
A nurse (Belinda) is stalked by a psychopathic patient hellbent on avenging her baby's death. A child protection case turns hostile and the nurse becomes the accused. Belinda fights to prove her innocence as the psychopath closes in on Belinda's own child and family. Set in the genteel Eastern suburbs of modern day Sydney, Australia it examines many contemporary social themes including drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, mental health, child abuse and dysfunctional family relationships.
Belinda has an auto-immune disease, Systemic Lupus Erythromatosis that becomes unstable as her life escalates out of control. As events unfold they unbalance and twist until even Belinda has doubts for her own sanity.
This contemporary thriller, is worlds apart from the evil and voodoo that has infiltrated it. This story will leave you guessing until the very end. Hold close those you love dear as you get pulled into this vortex of voodoo and deception. The ending is chilling as Belinda fights to save her own baby, from a stalker seeking the ultimate revenge.
The author has a nom de plume and once you read The Shaken Cradle you will understand why. The author is a nurse who did work on an outreach programme in Sydney working with mothers and babies who were high risk and whose issues did include child protection and abuse as well as serious mental health issues. Truth is always stranger than fiction and this certainly applies to The Shaken Cradle. The author also has Lupus and has lived this disease for a long time. She is currently in remission and credits it to being able to tell this story.
The author also writes a popular parenting blog and runs a successful parenting and baby sleep whisperer business. She also writes young adult/older children fiction. She can be contacted via her website at www.lenathompson.net and can be followed on Twitter @TrickyKaren2 and email at [email protected]
I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it. This is a story dedicated to all nurses and healthcare workers who are employed in Outreach and put their lives on the line each and every day.
